Dear friends of Tuluminosa,
hoping that you are well in these outstandingly difficult times where so many of our democratic values, especially in the arts and in science, are at stake just as are the respect and empathy for all our fellow human beings.
I wish us all to be able to stay oneself, evolve in ways that are true to our soul, be able to continue our valuable work as humans and live in freedom and joy.
I greet you with the pleasure of presenting the art project «Islands of Poetry” to you.
Especially in these times, I am very happy to be able to present to you my exhibition “The Fabric of the Cosmos Consciousness: Les Textes-Iles – Islands of Poetry”. My work of art and poetry on paper and canvas has taken on not only new shapes and the pleasure of daily use in form of textiles. Finally, I could realize a life long dream of textiles in an art project where the fluidity, lightness and flow as the one we experience in dance, meditation, ecstatic moments of joy – that is in free ambihemispherical synchronization of the brain’s hemispheres – are reflected.
Delighthearted best wishes,
Susanne Steines, May 2025
The exhibition “The Fabrics of the Cosmos Consciousness” – a permanently growing artistic project
What is consciousness? What is human awareness of self and our surroundings? What is it that makes us human? These are, for me, the most important questions of our times. Answers we might find many, for me, the most important one is: love in all its expressions leading to a conscious awareness of ourselves in relation to the other, to our surroundings, nature, stars, cosmos which fill us with awe. It is something beyond words, that in history of anthropology and philosophy worldwide has since millennia been talked about as “souls”, something non physical, non biological transcending physical needs and life.
We feel it, sense it, sometimes in physical touch, sometimes in touch with our emotions, heart, “gut feelings”, intuitions. Where we all might have experienced this inexplicable power is when participating in an exhibition or show of the arts, any arts, concerts, theater, poetry speaking to us and touching us over experiences of millennia, artworks which take our breath away when we finally stand in front of them in the real physical world – beyond photographs, videos or audiotapes – and it seems that our soul is touched by another soul.
The hand made artwork right in front of us, musicians standing or sitting in front of us performing, the authentically personal writings of any human written text, and, at best, read by the author in front of us, especially poetry, leaves us, very often, speechless in awe. For me, this is one of the main characteristics of what makes us human.
In all my work, since my teenage years, as an artist and writer, I explored this question “what is it that makes us human?” I realized very soon that observing my inner workings and my life unfolding in my ambidextrous work as an ambihemispherically functioning human being would become crucial in times of the development of artificial intelligences constructed on base of both hemispheres of the human brain perfectly synchronized workings and trained with information of the human brain at work.
My most ingenuine moments of inner meditation are shown in my pastels on paper, in which I am searching for words and signs arising in my stream of consciousness and remaining in the pulverized color pigments of the pastel lines, leaving my very personal fingerprints and handwriting within the poetry of the artwork, my Driftword poetries.
Since two years, I started to turn these hand written and painted signs and words of all my painted artwork into context in texts as textiles, based on a long tradition of the metaphor in literature and actual textile weaving traditions, signs and glyphs of known or unknown origine arising in the spontaneous simultaneity of the meditative moment at work.
Meditative moments woven together with the energies of calligraphic gestures in paintings and pastels or big format mixed media paintings on raw canvas, recombined in digital art prints on very lightweight and translucid natural parachute silk. Intricate art, sublime poetry on human dignity expressed in meditative movements of breath and dance, to be danced with. Here I show, where digital tools can allow for a human artwork to become our garment for life, of light weight mobility, of a daily breath of air on our skin or walls.
The translucid dream of the translucid garment of time, the presence of the poetic moment, the poetry of spontaneously arising actuality in simultaneity of the presently occurring moment composing the fabric of cosmos consciousness, in timeless eternal presence of any present moment ever occurred.
In my rather philosophical texts I share thoughts and scientific insight on the actual physical fabric of the cosmos on one hand side and on the other hand side on our diverse expressions and fashions of being oneself in any moment of life and of being humanity altogether, thoughts which I have shared in several previous blogs.
I wrote in my previous blogs about the neuroscience of telepathy actually proven to exist and shown to be working in and between humans, I wrote about the power of the ambihemispherically synchronized brain as neuroscientifaclly proven fact. My ambihemispherical nature, handwriting and painting, has astonished me throughout my entire life and made me curious about its real value.
What last year and this year has finally fully come together in my work in a surprisingly synchronized way are all my independent art projects and literary endeavours of what is my Translucidmind’s Ambihemispherical Holosophy Project: Writing, poetry, visual art, holistic ambihemispherical synchronization through handwriting, meditation and dance, connecting all of us Humanity in these times of AI and transhumanism and sharing my art with all for everyday empowerment.
The physical house for this project for Humanity is at the moment my art studio, Translucidmindgallery in The House Of Presence, a term which I gratefully borrow from Octavio Paz who gave it to us as a monumental reverence and metaphor to the art of poetry in his essay with the same title. The exhibition showcases the original artworks next to the delightful digital prints on silk dancing in any wave of wind flowing through my patio.
This movement of the wind lifting up a textile, a text penetrated by my poetic energies and calligraphic movements correspond to a very dear and early work of mine (and one repeated years later in my sheets for Ingo Maurer’s Zettel Lamp): I painted and wrote pastel color dust poems on finest translucid Japanese rice paper, hung losely, losing the color dust over time to the wind, for me the most poetic moment of all poetry: the moment of spontaneously experienced poetic epiphany and its ephemeral evanescence.
Be welcome in my art studio, my patio in The House of Presence, and enjoy.
